Deja Vu all over again

Measure H1 has evolved from the theater renovation that didn’t pass in 2014 but there are troubling similarities. A new board hired the same architect (QKA) who crafted uninspiring conceptual designs and focused mostly on renovations. Most voters felt the prior bond measure failed because the design ended up lacking in comparison to the new construction designs that nearby school districts had built. The design meetings in both cases were by invitation of the superintendent and without being recorded.

I am in favor of Measure H1 only if the voters simultaneously agree to vote for School Board members who learned appropriate lessons from prior failures and can be trusted to spend $66 million - getting the best bang for the buck for students. I am running for office because I have advanced analytical expertise, the patience and work ethic to dig into details, and professional experience to offer responsible financial and academic oversight.

I am against deliberations that affect our kids’ future made behind closed doors. Committee meetings should be held online and open to public participation with moderated questions and input.
